I love Halloween. LUV it. I’m pretty sure I post about how I love Halloween every October but that’s because it’s always true. It’s the one time of year I can unashamedly indulge in candy, binge watch old-school disney classics like Halloweentown, Hocus Pocus and The Nightmare Before Christmas, and play dress up in costumes of my own creation.
Of course I basically do the same thing during the month of December, the only exception being I binge watch Hallmark Christmas Classics in my How the Grinch Stole Christmas footed pajamas.
Of my Halloween related indulgences, costumes are by far my favorite. Ever since I was little, playing dress up was the key to unlocking my imagination. A plastic crown transformed me into the princess of a magical kingdom. A tutu gave me center stage in my own production of Swan Lake. And any kind of makeup made me a glamorous movie star. As an adult, nothing has changed- I still love to play dress up and Halloween is just an excuse to go big.
This Halloween I am challenging myself and fellow blogger friends/makeup enthusiasts/best friends to put their best face forward and really get creative with their Halloween makeup (no clowns, vampires, or zombies please…let’s try something new). Each week for the month of October I will post a picture and possibly a tutorial on creative Halloween makeup ideas that are sure to make an impression at any party or gathering. Follow #trickortreatmakeupchallenge on Instagram to get in on the action and join the fun!
I did a test run last night on my sister and was pretty pleased with the results.
Because fair is fair, I let her give me a Halloween makeover….I was supposed to be a beautiful mermaid.
Personally I think I looked more like a disgruntled clown, but my sister claims I was channeling “mysterious sea maiden”. If you have any fun makeup ideas you’d like to see, leave a comment below and I’d be happy to try them (as long as fake blood is not involved).
Happy Halloween!! XOXO
