The Cape, a love story

Fall, glorious Fall! It’s my second favorite season, overshadowed only by Winter (because Winter means Christmas, the most magical time of the year!).

But Fall is awesome too, because along with the arrival of the pumpkin spice latte and the changing color of the leaves, we pack away our tank tops and flip flops and bust out the jackets and boots.*

*This is when Apple Bottom Jeans by T-Pain starts playing in the background of my mind…because of the “boots with the fur” part. Please tell me I’m not the only person this happens to.

Easy and comfortable while still retaining a chic and current vibe, the jacket/boot combo is here to stay.

One of this season’s twists on the jacket is the cape, and man, we are loving it. Not to be confused with a cloak, which is much longer and designed to protect the wearer from the elements, capes hit just below the wearer’s hips and are more fashion focused than weather resistant.

Not a sweater for the fashion faint of heart, the cape requires attitude and confidence to pull off. I myself have been hesitant to embrace the cape, but after seeing them on the runway and the streets, I think it’s time to make the leap and get one for myself.

Take a look at this season’s capes! Maybe you’ll be inspired to take the leap with me!
